I am super happy with this race! I thought I would struggle to run 19:45. My friend Micah came, and we hadn't run with each other since May since I have been traveling so much, but she is getting to be in really good shape. There was also a girl from the FSU track team there. I knew Micah really wanted to beat the other girl, and I decided to just stay with them until I couldn't. That point ended up being around 9 laps in I think. The FSU girl ended up beating Micah by 5 seconds which stinks.

I have 400 splits, but we went out in 6:08 then did something like a 6:11, then I died a little. But this is the hardest I have actually run in a while, and I am really happy with it!

I also won the summer track series, I think I get my award next week!

I hope the award is proportional to your studliness.

I'm so glad you won the series!!! All that hard work + great talent + a very nice person who deserves good things happening to her!

You're the greatest Kelsey! Way to go!

Congratulations on a trustworthy PR. I think you have the speed to run an OTQ in the marathon if you put in the miles.

Right now, the 5 K is a little off, but it is because your mileage is low. Which is why you die in the third mile. Your true 5 K pace is probably around 5:50 per mile. But with mileage 5 K will get where it should, and so will other distances, including the marathon.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to see what my prize is, hopefully it is something cool. Or edible. Yum.

And thanks for your input Sasha. I look forward to gradually increasing my mileage going into my next marathon to see what I can do! Hopefully I will get some shorter race PRs along the way.

I don't know if you're interested, or even if I can help at all, but I have a friend on faculty here in Auburn who is trying to get her third OTQ marathon and wants me to train with her to help with pacing/motivation/etc. She keeps her mileage typically pretty high (usually slightly higher than mine), but I think we're going to start the real hard-core marathon training in December, with the target race being the Grandma's Marathon in June 2010, with a goal time of sub-2:45. I admittedly am not an expert at fast marathoning, but I could let you know what it is that she's doing. Just a thought...
