I just realized FSU plays BYI in football in September. I would totally go if I didn't have a grand prix race that weekend. Darn!

Headed for a little double vacay really early tomorrow morning (getting up at 2:30am) with Jason's family in Myrtle Beach and then my family in Port Charlotte.  I will be missing out on intervals with the track club, and with my mile grand prix race coming up I knew I needed the speed work. I had a crazy day, followed by going to the local shelter with my church group to cook dinner for the approximately 300 guests they have for dinner each night. We were finished around 8:30 and I went straight to the track, trying to get home as early as possible to get some sleep and trying to avoid a big storm that was coming. I warm up about a mile and begin my workout, which I decided would be as many 400s as I can stay motivated for, preferably 12 but thinking it will end up being like 5.

All of that rushing had me rush my first interval as well, running a 79. A little too fast, but that's okay. I jogged an easy lap around and was about to start my second 400 and long story short a guy on the track decided to race me to amuse himself and his friends. He took off when I did, way too fast, and I just let him go because I didn't realize we were racing. After the first 200 I realized what was going on and caught up to him, finishing a second or two behind him. I am sure that wasn't quite the victory margin he wanted. During my easy lap the sky opened and it started pouring, so they guys left. That left me and two other speedy girls on the track. I loved it! I felt so hard core running in the rain and loved that two other girls who seemed to be doing some type of interval workouts of their own were the only people to work through it. At times the rain was an inch or two deep on the track. I continued to do 400 on, one lap off (a little more than 400 because I had to run in lane 4).

Times:

79, 76, 89, 89, 91, 89, 87, 86, 89, 85, 87, 85

I can't believe I finished an entire speed workout by myself. I am super proud, and my times weren't bad considering the weather. They were actually better than my last 400s with the track club. I think my body was thankful that it wasn't 1000 degrees.

I got frustrated and stopped. This vacation is not really a running one.

I don't have internet at home anymore so my posts will probably be a little behind :(

Vacation was nice but I am glad I am back home and on schedule again with my training.

1 mile (6:11) followed by 8x400, all around 82-89.

5k tempo run with the Thursday Night group. Felt pretty rough, probably because I slacked for a week on vacation. Hopefully I feel better for the race on Saturday.

Didn't stop my watch, but it was a little over 22 minutes... worst tempo time yet :(

I am so pleased with this race, especially after I felt so bad Thursday! It's a mile PR for me.  I was never a good mile runner, but now I am starting to enjoy the distance.

Quarter splits (slightly more than a 400 each):

1:22, 1:22, 1:23, 1:20

I felt great and probably should had a little bit too much left, but I didn't expect to be able to go that fast. Too bad it will be another year before I get to try again!

I also ate one blueberry pancake for each mile I ran :)

My easy weekend long run group ended up starting at the same place and time as the weekend long distance tempoers. They do an out and back, fast out, and super fast back. So we ended up hanging onto their pace for most of our run, and got out in like 35 minutes, and back in 37 (it is like .1 longer on the way back, and uphill, so we did great!). I'm pretty sore from the combination of this run and the mile yesterday.

And all of my shoes smell from all of the rain we have been getting lately. Gross.

I did intervals with the morning group today since I'm leaving town for the evening. They were a fast group, there was only one person behind me!

6x800- 3:04, 3:02,2:59, 2:58, 2;55,2:53

in the near future I hope to do all 800s under 3 minutes

Thursday 5k tempo run. I felt pretty tired, but I think it was my second fastest time so maybe that is why. I am pretty sore today. I have been having too many negative thoughts go through my head while I run. And every time I run I think about how I am never running again. Then when I am finished I forget how miserable I was and put myself through it again. I don't know why I am feeling so "miserable" when I run but I need to get over it. I have on and off days with feeling good, but even if my body feels good I sometimes don't enjoy it. I think it's because I run all my workouts kind of hard, since they are all group workouts. But isn't that the point?

Long run at Bradleys to the Georgia border. 51:30 out (with an upset stomach), 46:56 back (I had to stop my watch to take care of business in the woods. Super super gross). Quick pace with negative splits; nice run besides the bathroom mishap.

I have had a plague of upset stomachs lately during my runs. The last two runs I had what I would consider emergencies. If anyone has any pointers I'd love to hear them.

My longest run since my marathon in November! It went pretty well, although my legs were definitely feeling the distance. This is the best I have felt on a run in while, physically and mentally. I think I am ready to lessen the speed work and bump up the mileage. Which is good, since marathon training begins soon!

Miles 2-11 were all around 8:04, Mile 12- 7:47, Mile 13 to finish were around 8:10-15
