Short-Term Running Goals:

Get in racing shape! More specifically, to find time, energy, and dedication to train while getting used to my new job. To train through the winter.  To learn to enjoy training by myself now that I don't have anyone to run with.

Next big race: Charlottesville Marathon, April 2011

Long-Term Running Goals:

Remember to be thankful for the ability to run, and use it while I have it!

Personal:

I just finished my PhD at Florida State University doing hurricane research.  This fall I started my first big girl job as an Assistant Professor at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. I specialize in Meteorology/Climatology and Environmental Science.

The running community in Tallahassee was amazing, and I hope to find a few fellow runners in my new tiny town.

My sub-19 is officially not a fluke! Although I would like to go at least a full second under at some point. At WDF I ran 18:59.89 and today I ran 18:59.45.  A PR is a PR, right?

Some FSU girls came out today who I knew were fast, so I knew it was going to be a tough race. My first two miles were 6:02 and 6:04, so I thought I was going to run a really good time. I fell back the last mile, and the couple of hills didn't help, so I ran something around 6:15 or something like that.  I was in second for a little (for most of mile 2) but it didn't last. Maybe I am getting selfish, but I would really like to run a 18:58. 18:59 isn't as exciting as it used to be.

They gave out free skin cancer screenings and I have one they think I need to get removed. Boooo. I knew that was going to happen though.

Great race! I am glad to hear that you did awesome. Plus, you got a PR, and that is even more awesome. I would say have an extra scoop of ice cream, but you have a race next weekend. Anyway, Great job.
