4 x 1200

This workout felt horrible. I haven't hit a wall like that in a while, and was very close to not finishing. But I finished, although embarassingly far behind the rest of my group. I guess some times you just have to suck up your pride. I think I was extra tired because I ran about 5 seconds faster than normal on the first two, so was put in group one. Since I was in the back of that group, I got 2 minutes less rest than usual. Anyway, it ended up with me going about 20 seconds slower on the last one... but I finished.

Grand Prix race this weekend, so I am going to take it easy the rest of the week. Judging by today's intervals my legs reallllly need it.

9 days til storm chasing.

It's Wednesday but I decided to do a little research on my 1200s to make myself feel better. About 2 months ago I ran 4:50, 4:44, 4:37, 4:27.  Yesterday I ran 4:25, 4:25, 4:31, 4:4x. So not as bad as I thought, especially with the shorter break, it just felt bad.

I feel your pain. Yesterday I did a fartlek workout and felt awful afterward, but I also realize that a couple of months ago I would never have been able to survive the last couple of sets. Oh well, such is the mind of a runner...

By the way, you should do the SweetH20 50k just west of Atlanta on May 30. You had mentioned wanting to try a 50k at some point, and with good trails and a couple of solid creek crossings, that one looks like fun. I registered for it last night and am curious to see what the course has to offer...

I would like to make a suggestion to you if you do not mind. My suggestion would be to take an ice bath Friday for about 10 to 20 minutes. I think that will help your legs to feel fresh for the race. I usually take a 20 minute ice bath every week and i usually feel really fresh for a race or even a long run. I hope this helps.

I was thinking the same thing! You are getting faster and it is a tad harder. And some days we are just not quite up to feeling it. but, now you know, you were faster and you will keep getting faster!!!

Storm chasing?

Good luck this weekend!

What does storm chasing entail?

From kelsey on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 21:27:05 from 98.230.3.218

Nevels- I actually saw you had a tough workout but didn't have time to comment. I guess some times we have to put thing in perspective and realize we're just pushing ourselves harder. I also learned a lot about my limits, which needed to be done. I wish I could do the 50k (really bad actually) but I'll be out of town. Eventually I will meet up with you at one of these in our region!

Kelli and Mike- Yup, storm chasing! This will be my 4th year and I love it. We go for two weeks in the Great Plains but end up all over the US because we travel on our off days. We actually spent two nights in Moab last year... so there is a chance I could be near all of the Utah people! I plan on letting y'all know a few days in advance (if possible) and we could possibly meet up. Of course we may not even get that far wast, it's all up to the weather. So to answer your question Mike, we basically do what we have to do to see some cool storms. We camp some nights, most nights in hotels, and live out of our van. It is a ton of fun. I plan on blogging the trip on here and hopefully posting some great storm pictures!

Just like the movie! I do not want any storms, but if a storm blows you in that would be cool! I know they had some massive ones at Lake Powell just barely, a bunch of boats sunk.
